Shadowing Experience
I was fortunate enough to be able to shadow two Broadway stage managers. In the summer of 2018, I was able to shadow the stage managers at The Phantom of the Opera in the afternoon and the stage managers at The Lion King in the evening of the same day!
The Phantom of the Opera: I was instructed to get there an hour before the show started. Once I got into the stage door and met the stage managers, I sat down with the assistant stage manager, Jill, and talk about our theatre careers. She then took me through her pre-show checks. After that, she let me play at the call desk which was just off of stage right. When the show was about to begin, the stage manager who was calling the show came over and gave me a headset to wear. The rest of the show I stood behind him and watched him call the show. During intermission, I got to see them set up for the act 2 opening number called "Masquerade". After that, I watched him call the second act. It was an amazing experience to be able to watch my dream job in action at my favorite musical!
The Lion King: On that same day in the evening, I got to do the same thing at The Lion King. I was instructed to get there 15 minutes before showtime. I got a short tour and sat in the stage management office for a little bit before going up to their call booth which was up in the back of the theatre. I got a headset from the calling stage manager and she gave me a script to read off of. I sadly could not see what she was doing with the switches because her monitor was in between us. Even though it was as extensive as Phantom, it was interesting to see the difference their calling styles and the amount of cues they have to call each performance.

This is a dance piece that I designed the lighting for in my lighting design class for CDE! The choreography was by Lauren LaBreck.
Here is a scene I did for my directing class. It is from the play Kimberly Akimbo by David Lindsay-Abaire. I did scenes from Act 1, scene 4 and Act 1, scene 6. Actors: Kimberly is played by Becca B, Jeff is played by Sydney M, and Debra/Buddy is played by Carolyn H.
